Muchenje Safari Lodge Safety Protocol

All guests staying at Muchenje Safari Lodge doing any motorized tours will be on a vehicle of no more than 4 people unless with a family or group.

All staff are equipped with the necessary personal protective gear. Guests are advised to bring their own face masks.

Prior to use all tables will be pre-sterilised & spaced 1,5m. No communal dining apart from existing groups. Meals are prepared on site in accordance with stringent health & safety checks.

Sanitizers (with a minimum of 70% alcohol content) and disinfectant stations are provided at all entrances / exits to guest areas and back-of-house, including our staff village and offices.

We have implemented processes to ensure thorough sanitizing of all payment points, door handles, luggage and any touch hotspots

All staff and guests at Muchenje Safari Lodge are screened on arrival and at prescribed intervals daily and monitored daily in a non-invasive, and prompt manner and recorded according to government guidelines.

On arrival we will no longer be shaking hands, sharing hugs or other forms of physical contact with guests. Guests and staff alike are encouraged to use the ‘palms together bow greeting’ as an alternative. We still love you, just from a little bit more of a distance.

Rest assured that all back-of-house operations at Muchenje Safari Lodge follow a stringent list of health and safety checks. This includes all deliveries, food preparation and service, laundry and housekeeping operations.

All communal areas as well as guest accommodation are spacious, well-distanced apart from each other and are naturally ventilated, with plenty of sunshine and fresh air.

These protocols will be in place until such a time as the government permits and will then be revised.

PCR Tests

There is a small satellite laboratory for Diagnofirm in Kazangula that is currently arranging PCR tests. The tests are couriered to Gaborone for processing.

Testing at Muchenje is possible or alternatively we can visit the clinic either on arrival or during the transfer to the Muchenje Kasane boat safari. The results will be available the next day (within 24hrs for all negatives) Positive results might take a bit longer as they need to be confirmed before the results are released.

Testing in Kasane – P1000 – or approx. $ 95 per person

Testing at Muchenje – P1200 or approx. $110 per person

Results can be emailed to the lodge or collected at the Kasane Laboratory before departure.

Costs of the test can be added to the final invoice on check out

These are the arrangements currently – January 2021 and are continually changing and we will advise as they develop in future months.

Costs and logistics are subject to change and will be advised.

If any additional costs, the guest will be charged the difference at the lodge.
