Arrive as guests, leave as friends.
At Muchenje we know we are blessed – with a great Lodge, great staff, great view, and we are in one of the great wildlife areas of Africa! We invite you to come and stay in our stylish, yet comfortable, Safari Lodge. Muchenje is small and intimate, and we like you to feel at home.
Because we are privately owned and run, we understand the importance of making your stay with us unique and special.
The Smith family - Matt, Lorna & Bryan - along with family friend Shaun Metcalfe fell in love with the Muchenje site 14 years ago and are proud to have been involved since the first brick was laid.
Matt & Lorna built up Muchenje from bare bush, into the stylish lodge it is today, earning the enviable reputation as 'the Last Eden of Chobe'. They are still involved in the business, every day.
Managers, Bobby and Joy Balcon, have over 15 years experience in the industry working for some of Botswana finest camps. They have made Muchenje their own and take great pride in showing clients the real Africa, with incredible hospitality.
Our professional guides 'Lips', 'Nico' , Nick and JJ have a huge passion for the bush and live for their work. Each has their own speciality, so whether its birding, big game, walking or 'the little five' you will be well taken care!
Staff
Muchenje’s staff are part of the charm of this small, and elegant lodge. Most are from the local village and have been with us for a number of years.
The guides are excellent, and dedicated to ensuring that guests get the most out of their stay, both in terms of wildlife viewing, and sharing cultural information of their lives
